Day Seven

Today was a free day since we opted out of the Temple tour. We went down for breakfast and then shopped for a little while. All the shop owners are so nice you want to buy from them, but you can only get so much to fit in the suitcase! After shopping we went to the park and let Makena run around a bit and watched the locals dancing, and exercising. It is quite interesting to see. So far Makena has not had any temper tantrums today and she has eaten less today also. I had been told she might try to eat non stop and this has been true. We are headed dawn for te red couch pics next and then off to supper.

Day Six

Today we went to Makena's physical appointment. She screamed the entire time she was being examined. One doctor kept asking about her medical records and was not happy with them. The report says she has malformation of all four limbs but it is really just three and he didn't like that at all. He also kept asking about the surgical scar on her left thigh and even though I had a copy of the surgical report he just kept shaking his head. I think the fact that Makena was screaming so loudly finally got us out of there. After that we walked around a bit and shopped for a dress for the red couch pictures. Then we had a cheeseburger! and called it a day.

Day Five

Today we flew down to GZ. All went well on the flight with the babies. Makena was not fussy at all and did not get sick. Maybe she will be a better traveler than her mom! We are happy with the hotel location being close to shops and restaurants that have an American menu.

Day Three

We have had Makena 3 days now and she is truly an amazing child! For a day or so she was really quiet, but last night and today she is "talking". Mama, Dada, Bye-by, and of course lots of Mandrin that we have no idea about. We are feeling o.k. Could be better, or worse. We are really loking forward to flying to GZ tomorrow where things should be better. The food is not really agreeing with us here and I did not pack enough warm clothes for this area. Now that things have settled downa little I will try to post more frequently.

Thanks to my wonderful friend Jenny I believe the blogger problem has been solved and we should be able to post now!

Not sure what has been posted for us so far so I'm going to recap a little.

We arrived in Beijing on Thursday afternoon the 17th. EXHAUSTED. That is the only word to describe it!

Friday morning we toured the Great Wall, a Jade Factory, and the Olympic Village.

Saturday we toured the Forbidden City, amazing to see something that was built before our own country was even discovered!! We then walked thru Tian'anmen Square, had a traditional Chinese lunch, toured a Silk Factory and wrapped up the evening with an acrobat show. Again, exhausted!

Sunday we packed up and flew to ZZ where we are now awaiting the trip to the civil affairs office in about 7 hours to get Makena. I will try to post pics tonite.
