Today was a free day since we opted out of the Temple tour. We went down for breakfast and then shopped for a little while. All the shop owners are so nice you want to buy from them, but you can only get so much to fit in the suitcase! After shopping we went to the park and let Makena run around a bit and watched the locals dancing, and exercising. It is quite interesting to see. So far Makena has not had any temper tantrums today and she has eaten less today also. I had been told she might try to eat non stop and this has been true. We are headed dawn for te red couch pics next and then off to supper. Margaret |

Day Seven
Day Six
Today we went to Makena's physical appointment. She screamed the entire time she was being examined. One doctor kept asking about her medical records and was not happy with them. The report says she has malformation of all four limbs but it is really just three and he didn't like that at all. He also kept asking about the surgical scar on her left thigh and even though I had a copy of the surgical report he just kept shaking his head. I think the fact that Makena was screaming so loudly finally got us out of there. After that we walked around a bit and shopped for a dress for the red couch pictures. Then we had a cheeseburger! and called it a day. Margaret |

Day Three
We have had Makena 3 days now and she is truly an amazing child! For a day or so she was really quiet, but last night and today she is "talking". Mama, Dada, Bye-by, and of course lots of Mandrin that we have no idea about. We are feeling o.k. Could be better, or worse. We are really loking forward to flying to GZ tomorrow where things should be better. The food is not really agreeing with us here and I did not pack enough warm clothes for this area. Now that things have settled downa little I will try to post more frequently. Margaret |

Where O Where
I am really hoping for our LOA to arrive this week. Once we have it we should travel in 5-8 weeks and right now that time frame falls before the trade fair in October! Also, we want to hold our baby girl!!! We should not be waiting very much longer but I am having a fit to get her in my arms! Everyone think good thoughts and hope for our LOA by the end of the week!

Could This Week Be The Week?!?
Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since the last time we changed our medical conditions checklist. I believe we are close to referral. I feel like this could be the week. Or, maybe I know how busy we are about to be with the property we are closing on this week and how much work we need to do to make it ready for the little one's nanny to move in.
Our fingerprint appointment is scheduled for July 24th. Glad to have that in the works, as Memphis tends to be a little slow on these approvals. Just happy we are still under the I600A/I171H and not Hague. That means our time from referral to travel should be quicker. Our I171H is about to expire however, and that is going to cost another approximate $1250 unless we get referral in the next week or so.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.

About Ten!!!
I spoke with Sarah about 2 weeks ago and was told there are less than 12 families left in front of us! YAY! I know 4 of these families thru an adoption yahoo group I belong to, and would LOVE for any of us to get the call TODAY! Hopefully, more news to arrive soon, GREAT news, but nothing yet!

Update
I spoke with Sarah at our adoption agency yesterday and FINALLY got a ballpark number out of her. Something I have been trying to do for about six months!! There are less than 30 families in front of us!! This does not mean after 30 more children's files come in we will be matched. We have a narrow checklist of medical needs and someone behind us with a broader checklist will be matched before us. However, we have needs selected that families in front of us do not have listed, so we will be matched before them. While the list does not move chronologically, it felt good knowing we are close to the top!! I am still hoping to know something by the end of May!!
